Berry Berry is a blend of herbal tea or tisane made by the Metropolitan Tea Company. While they make many delicious blends, Berry Berry is particularly unique. The first thing you will notice about the tea is the very strong and sweet fruit odor the loose leaf carries. I am going to use a tea ball to steep the tea in a mug. When combined with boiling water the tea instantly casts the water into a blueish grey shade giving away the presence of hibiscus petals. The tea base is made of 3 main ingredients. Elderberry and currant pieces for semi-sweet deep berry notes and the for mentioned hibiscus petals to balance out the deep berry flavors with some lighter and brighter floral notes. The berries in the tea lend the tea a certain element of sweetness that is unusual and very pleasant. Also, this means the tea has no need of other sweeteners. When combined with boiling water the hibiscus instantly casts its signature blue shade. As the steeping continues the tea brews into a nice brown color with a reddish hue. Because the tea is primarily made up of died berries it is a good idea to extend the brewing time to approx. 8-10 min. None of the ingredients in the tea turn bitter with the extended brewing time and the berries with release more flavor and their natural sweetness into the tea. In conclusion, this is a very novel and fun fruity tea. It is definitely a fun twist for something different.
